Registration requirements

What the registry expects from you and your contacts

  • Emails to act on

The .it registry emails the registrant a confirmation request and cannot resend it. If the registrant does not confirm within 14 days, the registration fails.

  • All contacts
    • The contact address must be in an EEA country, Vatican City, San Marino, Switzerland, or the United Kingdom for .it domains.

    • A VAT number is required for .it domains when the contact is a company.

    • A valid two-letter Italian province code is required for Italian contact addresses used on .it domains.

    • Social Security Number (fiscal code) and Passport Number (passport or ID) are required for personal contacts used on .it domains.

  • The registrant must verify their email address before a registration or transfer starts. When the registrant's details change, the registrant must verify them again before the change is sent to the registry.

Transfers

Moving an existing .it domain to Domain Chief

  • You need the authorization code from the current registrar to transfer a .it domain.

  • The expiry date is reset and starts a new registration period on the day of the transfer.
